Science & the Law: A Day in Court
Education Organised by Tall Poppy Campaign - UTS - 14 August 2006
Can’t get enough of CSI? Spend Friday nights glued to Silent Witness? Come along to Science & the Law: A Day in Court at UTS Moot Court in the Law Faculty on Monday 14 August from 10.00 - 12.00 and participate in a mock trial with some of Australia’s leading young forensic scientists.
Organised by the Tall Poppy Campaign as part of National Science Week 06, the scenario has been designed by two outstanding forensic scientists from UTS who have both won prestigious Young Tall Poppy Science Awards. Visit www.aips.net.au to see the scenario.
This is the real world of forensic science and sitting in the court room, you will play the role of the jury, listening to the evidence presented by expert witnesses and decide the case. You will hear argument from both the defence and prosecution - and witnesses will undergo the rigour of cross-examination.
Following the trial, there will be opportunity for the audience to question the forensic scientists on their roles, research and the increasing importance of forensic science in the legal system.
Whether you are a science nut, are considering a career in forensic science, or just can’t get enough of the intriguing world of forensics, this is an event not to be missed.

3 dimensional solid replication
Presentation of Evidence Anonymous writes "3D printing has an obvious place in the presentation of evidence. The old adage of a picture being worth a thousand words goes one step better when you can hold an exact replica of the results of a crime in your hand and pass it around to be examined. "
